March 31, 2025 (New York, NY) — The Fashion Institute of Technology Track & Field team opened its 2025 outdoor season with a strong showing at The Big Hurt Invitational, hosted by St. John's College in Queens, NY, on March 29. With multiple NJCAA Division III Outdoor Championship qualifying marks and several personal records, the Tigers made an early statement of intent.
Senior Kimiko Quayle led the distance squad, crushing her personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:47.23, finishing second overall and comfortably clearing the NJCAA DIII qualifying standard of 5:13.20. Teammate Elise Harcsar also impressed, running 5:28.86 in the same event—earning a national qualifying mark in just the first meet of the season.
In the sprints, Taiwo Adekunle stood out with a strong performance in the 100m dash, placing 7th out of 30 athletes with a time of 13.09, surpassing the NJCAA qualifying mark of 13.44. She also showed her versatility in the field events, recording a solid 8.14m in the shot put.
The hurdles squad saw Angela Moskvich and Emma Anderson go head-to-head in the 100m hurdles, pushing each other to competitive early-season finishes and building momentum for upcoming meets.
With national standards met and personal bests already falling, the FIT Tigers are primed for a breakout season on the road to the NJCAA DIII Outdoor Championships.
