(Staten Island, NY) The FIT Tigers traveled to Wagner College for their first meet of the season! It was a cold and windy day, but that did not stop any of them from doing their best. After weeks of several strength and track workouts, the FIT Tigers were ready to begin this season with a bang. They dusted off their laces, tightened up their spikes, and toed the line, ready to rumble!
In the Women's 100 Meter Dash, Anya Swapp came in 8th with a time of 14.21. Her fellow teammates Sydney Wilson came in 12th with a time of 15.17, Abigail Lee placing in 14th, with a time of 15.88, Rose Llewellyn placing in 15th with a time of 16.01, and Amanda Giorgi came in 16th with a time of 16.38! Through the hard work and training that they have put in the last few weeks, they succeeded in doing their best!
Next, in the Women's 400 Meter Dash, Erin Larkin came in with a speedy time of 1:18.37 and placed in 13th! Way to go, Erin!
Coming in next was the Women's 800 Meter Run with five of FIT's Tigers! Alayna Langan came in 7th place with a swift finish of 2:41.29. Alayna has already qualified for nationals with this outstanding time! Congratulations, Alayna! Coming close behind was Shannon Culhane in 15th, with a brisk time finishing at 2:49.01. Next, Sonja Feaster came in with a time of 2:53.18, placing in 17th! In 18th place, came Monique Bergeron who clocked in at 3:02.95! Sarah Sachs came in right behind with a time of 3:08.34, placing in 20th. This group did an incredible job!
Debatably the toughest race of the day, the 1500 Meter Run, was conquered by Jennifer Shroyer who came in 22nd, with an impressive time of 6:32.90! After all the training and work put in the last few weeks, it was a great way to start off the season! Way to go, Jennifer!
In the Men's 100 Meter Dash, Rafael Dones came in 11th place with a vigorous time of 13.40!
Lastly, in the Men's 400 Meter Dash, came Connor Furst who finished in 26th, beating his personal best at 1:04.89! Another great way to start off this season! Outstanding job, Connor!
