Juun Shin Honored as Fall 2025 SUNY Women's Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) proudly announces that Juun Shin, an outstanding member of the women's volleyball team, has been named the SUNY Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The prestigious honor recognizes her exceptional achievements both on the court and in the classroom.

The SUNY Scholar-Athlete Awards recognize student-athletes from SUNY colleges and universities sponsoring intercollegiate athletics at both the two- and four-year levels. Nominees are selected and voted on by representatives from their respective institutions based on cumulative grade point average, athletic performance, career statistics, and academic honors.

The awards celebrate excellence in 29 sports and are presented three times annually to align with the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Scholar-Athletes of the Year in each sport are then nominated for the overall SUNY Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's and women's sports, with recipients announced in mid-July.

Shin, a Fashion Business Management major, adds yet another accolade to an impressive rookie campaign with the Tigers. In 2025, she was named an NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American, earned Region XV Setter of the Year honors, and was selected as a First Team All-Region performer.

On the court, Shin recorded 509 assists during the season, including two matches with 40 assists and six contests with at least 30 assists. She led all Region XV players with an average of 7.17 assists per set and played a key role in guiding FIT to a national ranking as high as No. 12 during the season.
