October was filled with intense match playing for the FIT Women's tennis team. On Friday and Saturday October 19th-20th, the team competed in the regional 15 championship tournament against fellow region rivals Suffolk and Kingsborough Community College.
On Friday, the semi finals were held and the FIT Tigers won 7 out of the 9 matches on that day. Advancing in singles were
Molly Keane (3rd singles),
Abigail Lee (4th singles),
Natalie Ogransky (5th singles), and
Svetlana Kouptsov (6th singles). The doubles pairs,
Morgan Grabarz and
Jolene Providence (1st doubles),
Molly Keane and Abby Lee (2nd doubles) and
Naiomy Escalante and
Kelly Huang (3rd doubles) all advanced to the finals as well.
During the Saturday finals,
Natalie Ogransky, won her finals match becoming the 5th singles champion.
Suffolk CC were ultimately titled the Region XV champions and will represent our region at the National Championship in Peachtree City, GA during the first weekend of November. FIT Women's team played with determination and power over the weekend and placed 2nd in the regional tournament.
The team is excited to continue to grow and practice to become the Region XV championship next year!
