On Friday and Saturday October 6th-7th, the women's tennis team competed in the region 15 championship tournament against fellow region rivals Suffolk, Kingsborough, and Nassau Community College.

In the first day of action,  the Tigers won 5 of their 9 semi final matches on the day. Advancing in singles were Michele Sparrow  (3rd singles) Abigail Lee (5th singles) and Lauren Lee (6th singles). Advancing to the finals on doubles were 2nd doubles partners Michele Sparrow and  Lauren Lee and 3rd doubles partners Naiomy Escalante and Abigail Lee.

On Saturday in the finals Abigail Lee defeated Brittany Angieri of Suffolk CC to win the Region XV 6th singles championship flight. Winning this match would be the deciding point that pushed FIT ahead of KCC by one point, good enough to bring home a second place finish in Region XV standings on the year.

Weekend play was dominated by tournament host Suffolk CC who were crowned region XV champions and will represent our region at the national Championships to take place in Peachtree City, GA 10/19-10/22

The Tigers look forward to rebuilding in the off season to bring back the region 15 championship next year.
