(Suffren, NY) It was another beautiful and sunny day as the Tigers took the court in Suffren, NY on Sunday, September 20th. The team had brushed off all the cobwebs in their first game of the season, on Saturday. They were definitely ready to take on Rockland Community College for everything they had.
Spenser Corson had a tough time getting her footing against Rockland's Elena Araloelya. She fell 6-0, 6-1.
Corinn Hakanson continued her winning streaked by shutting out Ga Laa, 6-0, 6-0.
Rachel Edwards faced off against Brooke Striter finishing 6-0, 6-1. Kiki Brooks played her first match of the season against Melissa Rena. She cleaned up nicely, keeping Rena scoreless at 6-0, 6-0.
Alexandra Krynyckyi turned up the heat to dominate Zamara Mohammed, 6-0, 6-0.
Maia Sepulveda competed in her first match of the season as well, against Diana Peralte. She closed out with a solid 6-0, 6-0.
Moving on to doubles, Corson and Hakanson were at it again against Rockland's Araloelya and Striter. Rockland put up a good fight, the duo shut them down 8-5. Brooke and Krynyckyi didn't let anything past them and finished 8-0 against Lee and Rema. The third set of doubles was Edwards and Sepulveda. They took on Peralte and Mohammed, cleaning up 8-0.
FIT continued their winning streak, finishing 8-1 for the day. This leaves them 2-0 for the season. Great way to get started Tigers! Let's help them keep that momentum going as they take on the Mercer Tournament in Trenton, NJ next weekend.
