NEW YORK, N.Y. – After helping guide the Fashion Institute of Technology women's volleyball team to one of the most successful seasons in program history, Centryll Scott has been named Head Coach of the Tigers' women's volleyball program and the inaugural head coach of FIT men's volleyball.
Scott joined the Tigers as an assistant coach during the 2025 season and played an integral role in a campaign that saw FIT finish 19-2 overall, advance to the Region XV Championship Match, and earn a national ranking as high as No. 12.
Scott's appointment comes at an exciting time for FIT Athletics. In January, the College announced the addition of men's volleyball as its newest intercollegiate sport, with competition set to begin during the 2026-27 academic year. Scott will now oversee both programs as the Tigers prepare for the inaugural season of men's volleyball.
During his first season with the Tigers, Scott helped coach three All-Region XV selections, including Juun Shin, who earned NJCAA Division III Third Team All-America honors and was named Region XV Setter of the Year.
This past spring, Scott also served as an assistant coach with the Monroe-Bronx Express men's volleyball team. The Express spent the season ranked among the nation's top 10 programs, finished 18-15 overall, and placed seventh at the 2026 NJCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship. Scott helped mentor Darren Lopez, who earned NJCAA Division III Second Team All-America honors.
A coach with more than a decade of experience, Scott has built a reputation for developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, he enjoyed a successful run at Teaneck High School, helping lead the men's volleyball program to some of the best seasons in school history, including its first league championship and first appearance in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1 semifinals.
His commitment to player development extends beyond wins and losses. Throughout his coaching career, Scott has helped numerous student-athletes continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
A 2013 graduate of Teaneck High School, Scott was a standout volleyball player before continuing his career with Penn State's Men's Club Volleyball Team. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Montclair State University.
