RICHMOND, Va. – The FIT Cross Country Team wrapped up its 2024 season at the NJCAA DIII National Championships, held at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.
After a season of hard work and dedication, the Tigers left Nationals with personal and season-best performances across the board.
On the women's side, Olivia Corabi led the Tigers, finishing 7th overall with a time of 20:11, shaving 35 seconds off her previous best. With this performance, Corabi earned Second Team All-America honors and was named NJCAA Athlete of the Year for the Northeast Region. She became the sixth Tiger in school history to earn All-America recognition in women's cross country.
In addition, Tigers head coach Howard Lindsay was named Northeast Region Coach of the Year, becoming just the third coach to receive NJCAA Coach of the Year honors since 2014.
As a team, the women finished sixth out of eight competing teams. Sofia Zampella was the second FIT runner to cross the finish line, setting a new personal record with a time of 22:09. Clare Desario (25:21), Marla McCain (25:32), Emily Chen (26:04), and Esther Babafemi (27:00) all posted new PRs as well.
