Lay'la K. Rogers attended UNLV, where she danced professionally with the Red Desert Dance Co. & West Las Vegas Arts Theatre while receiving a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography. Her love for dance and learning brought her to NYU, where she obtained an MA/MFA dual dance degree in 2021. As an emerging dance professional, Lay'la has committed her career creating a dance culture founded on anti-racist and belonging practices. Layla’s work as a dance scholar is a culmination of research studies, dance curriculums, and teaching. Truly an advocate for equitable change, Layla hopes to utilize her gifts in dance & education to continue to bring others into awareness and allyship with causes such as civil rights, women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and environmental rights, in the most creative ways possible. Lay'la most recently worked as the inaugural Rights and Arts Management Associate for the Merce Cunningham Trust and is also training in the Cunningham technique and dances professionally throughout NYC, most recently with HopeBoykinDance
