WAYNE, N.J. - The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) swimming team put forth a strong performance in its dual meet against William Paterson University (WPUNJ) on February 1, 2025. The FIT Tigers secured multiple first-place finishes.
Leading the way for FIT was Brooke Shinnick, who delivered an outstanding performance by winning the Women's 200-Yard IM (2:32.26), 100-Yard Butterfly (1:09.26), and 500-Yard Freestyle (5:56.90).
In the sprint events, Isabel Marshall secured a strong second-place finish in the Women's 50-Yard Freestyle (26.70) in a highly competitive race. Meanwhile, the FIT Women's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay team—featuring Marshall, Lily Krigelski, Cailey Rodgers, and Page Powell—claimed first place with a time of 2:05.01, demonstrating impressive teamwork and speed.
On the men's side, Nico Korten delivered standout performances, winning both the Men's 100-Yard Backstroke (1:09.73) and 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:19.63).
The FIT team showed great resilience and competitive spirit throughout the meet, finishing with 66 points in the women's events and 38 points in the men's events. While WPUNJ secured the overall team victory, the FIT Tigers' individual and relay successes underscored their growing strength in collegiate swimming.
FIT will next compete in the 2025 NJCAA Northeast District Swimming & Diving Championships, taking place February 14-16 at the Erie CC Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.
