FIT Swimming & Diving FAQ
 
Q: How fast do I need to be in order to be on the team?
A: There are no actual tryouts.  However, swimmers should be able to swim all four strokes, complete 100 yards freestyle in under a minute and thirty seconds, repeat 100s without stopping, read a pace clock, know racing dives and flip turns, and be prepared to challenge themselves.
 
Q: Are there qualifying times for Districts?
A: No, all athletes may participate in District Championships as long as they compete in at least two meets during the season.
 
Q: Are there qualifying times for Nationals?
A: Yes, current qualifying times for National Championships can be found here.
 
Q: What is the recruiting process?
A: Once you notify the coaching staff of your interest we will correspond with you regularly, meet you when you visit, answer any questions you have, and guide you in your application.
 
Q: Where is FIT’s pool?
A: FIT does not have a pool.  The swim team practices at a nearby facility.
 
Q: Does FIT have a diving time?
A: Yes.  FIT divers receive specialized training with a dive coach.
 
Q: Is there strength training?
A: Yes, the swim team occasionally has dry land workouts and strength training in addition to practicing in the water.
