Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The FIT Tigers Women's Soccer team saw their 2025 season come to an end on Tuesday evening, falling 2–1 to Nassau Community College in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XV Women's Soccer Championship at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
After an evenly played opening stretch, Nassau took a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute on a goal from Angela Reyes. FIT battled back in the second half, equalizing in the 72nd minute when Hithasha Lakshman scored off a corner from Abby Rufino. Nassau answered quickly with the eventual game-winner in the 78th minute, holding off a late FIT rally to secure the result. The match came down to the final seconds, as FIT was awarded a free kick from approximately 20 yards out—but the attempt narrowly sailed high of the goal, sealing the Lions' narrow win in a thrilling finish.
Despite the loss, the Tigers displayed tremendous fight, poise, and teamwork throughout the contest—hallmarks of a season built on resilience and growth. The setback concludes a hard-fought 2025 campaign for FIT, highlighted by strong leadership from the senior class and a competitive showing in Region XV play.
