A Day of Achievements for Swimming at Season Opening Quad Meet

Saturday, October 28th

The Tiger Swim Team took to the pool for their first meet of the season, a quad meet hosted by Sarah Lawrence College.  The Tigers left their mark on the meet that was  filled with excitement, remarkable achievements and unwavering spirit.

The meet began with a standout performance from the women's team, who secured a well-deserved second place in the medley relay.  This early success set the tone for the day and showcased the Tigers' exceptional teamwork and skills.

Next, Orion Arnold played a pivotal role in the team's success by delivering an outstanding performance with first place finishes in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events.  His impressive time of 58.35 in the 100 free was a true testament to his consistency and dedication. Joining Orion with a win in her heat was Isabelle Lange who with remarkable speed and dedication, secured first place in the highly competitive 50 freestyle event.  The victories for Arnold and Lange showcased the Tiger talent and set a high standard for the team to strive towards this season.

The most exciting moment of the day came during the exhilarating 2IM race. Coach Hillel Perper was so excited and caught up in the intensity of the race that he accidentally broke his clipboard out of sheer enthusiasm.  It was a nail-biter, but Nico Korten narrowly missed victory by less than half a second.  Nico's determination and skill had everyone on the edge of their seats, making this one of the most unforgettable moments of the meet.

The duo of Mia Cunningham and Mia Bacani, known as "The Mias," certainly left an indelible mark at the meet as well.   Bacani secured a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and also made her debut in the 200 freestyle, delivering an incredible performance.  Cunningham, with only a month of swimming experience, bravely stepped up and delivered an incredible performance.  Her dedication and quick progress left a lasting impression on everyone, highlighting her potential for great things in the future.  The adaptability and versatility of both Mias improved them both valuable assets to the team.

Lily Krigelski, a true force to be reckoned with, had the longest day of all the athletes. She competed in both the grueling 500 freestyle and the demanding 2IM. But that's not all, Lily will be participating in a marathon on November 5th showcasing her incredible endurance and dedication. She's a true inspiration to the team.

Cailey Rodgers, who has been shining both in practice and at the meet, participated in the relay, the 100 back, and the 50 free, clocking impressive times that she's determined to improve upon throughout the rest of this season.

The Tigers are excited for the rest of the season, and these remarkable achievements have set the stage for what's to come. The coaches are excited to see the team continue to grow and achieve new heights.  GO TIGERS!!  🐯🥇
