On Thursday, the Tigers (2-0) went up against Bergen Community College in a battle to five (21-25, 25-14, 25-20, 17-25, 15-5). With a slow start, the Tigers lost the first set 21-25, but were quick to bounce back and take the next set 25-14. Although they began with a five point deficit, a nine point serving streak from freshman Jenna Butler helped the Tigers fight back and take the lead. Going into the third set, the Tigers kept their momentum, leading 8-0. This lead helped paced the team to take the third set 25-20. Early in the fourth set, the two teams were neck and neck, but BCC pushed ahead halfway through to gain a seven point lead over the Tigers, and ultimately take the fourth set 25-17. The Tigers went into set five ready to win. Two kills from Paige Truncale within the first three points helped the Tigers gain the momentum they needed to close out the match. The Tigers played aggressive, racking up two aces, one block, and 8 kills in the fifth set, winning 15-5. 

Three freshman Tigers logged double-doubles in the five set match. Abigail Miller totaled a team high of 22 assists along with 16 digs while Megan Kelly and Stephanie Berdon totaled a team high of 11 kills. Kelly also dished out 14 assists and Berdon had 14 digs. Jenna Butler led the team with 5 aces and 25 digs, and Alexis Penichet had 3 blocks on the night. 

The FIT volleyball team returns to play on Saturday, September 8th with two matches agains BMCC and Bronx CC.
