The Tigers hosted league opponents Suffolk CC and Nassau CC at BMCC this Saturday. In their first game against Suffolk, the Tigers won a hard fought, five set match. The two teams went back and forth, but the Tigers were able to come out on top, winning 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-10). With a total of 11 team aces and four team blocks, the Tigers played aggressive both offensively and defensively. Freshmen
Megan Kelly and
Stephanie Berdon led the team with 14 kills each and 19 and 23 assists respectively. Libero
Jenna Butler led the team with 23 digs.
Next up, the Tigers faced Nassau CC. The two teams faced off previously this season at the CCRI Invitational, and Nassau won the match 3-1. This time around, both teams were tired but spirited, each having won a match to 5 sets. The Tigers came out strong, winning the first set 25-19. In the next three sets, Nassau bounced back and won 26-24, 25-19, and 25-13. Again, the Tigers were strong at the net, logging four team blocks. Unfortunately, they were not as offensively strong as their first match, only logging 2 team aces.
Megan Kelly led the team with 12 kills, while
Jenna Butler totaled 16 digs.
The Tigers return to play on Friday at home against Hostos CC.
