(New York, NY) It was nothing short of a full house in the Main Gym at FIT as the Lady Tigers played their first home game of the season. They took on big time rival, Ocean Community College. You could feel the energy from the crowd inspiring the Tigers. They played their hearts out, and left it all on the court. This was FITs second time facing the Ocean Vikings. The Tigers fell to them the first time, so there was a lot at steak to come back and prove themselves.
In the first set, FIT started out very consistently. There were nerves, but they didn't let the Vikings see them sweat. Superb hitting and crisp serving helped the Tigers take an early lead. They continued to play like All-Stars and seized the first set (25:15).
Going into the second set, the Lady Tigers were feeling energized and carried over the momentum from the first victory. The Vikings and Tigers were neck and neck until the very end. A few key sets and laser spikes pushed FIT over the hump to give them the win (25:22).
The Lady Tigers knew they had to seal the deal in the third set in order to snag the victory. They started off very strong, and immediately took the lead. The Lady Tigers played very smart, and worked together as a team. Ocean did not have the lead once in the third set. They closed out the third set  defeating the Vikings (25:22)!
The crowd was WILD! This was some of the best volleyball that the Tigers have played all year. It was a great night to be in attendance. Thank you to all of those that came out to support your Lady Tigers, and to all of those who watched the live stream.
The leaders of the night included
Julia Corbett coming in hot with 17 kills and 7 digs,
Jenna Dickey recording 14 kills, Hannah Edwards mastering 14 digs, and Darina Reylea posting 7 kills and no errors. Way to go ladies!
Catch the Tigers, suit up this Saturday as they hopefully continue to add to their winning streak at Sullivan Community College.
