(Suffern, NY) Over the past weekend the FIT Lady Tigers seriously brought their A game to compete at Rockland Community College. They faced two teams, Rockland Community College & Westchester Community College. As the Tigers move into their second and arguably most important half of the season, the look of determination was smeared across the faces of every teammate. The Tigers weren't there to mess around this weekend.
In the first game FIT faced the Fighting Hawks. It was evident that all talons and claws were out for keeps in every set, as Rockland gave FIT a run for their money. Starting off strong in the first set, the Tigers had crisp passes, solid digs, and laser serves. They took the set (25:17). The ladies really got in a groove on the second set, and cranked out a (25:06) win. Going into the third set, the Tigers knew they needed to execute perfectly to seal the deal, and move on. Their defense was spot on, and their serves stayed consistent. They kept the Hawks to only 16 points and took the W with (25:16). Starting off the weekend 3:0 isn't too shabby.Â
Game leaders for the first set were
Jenna Dickey who totaled 13 kills, while teammate
Cassandra Burdick tallied 33 effortless assists.Â
On to the next opponent - Westchester Community College. In the first set, the Lady Tigers took an early lead - which set the president for the rest of the sets. They shut down Westchester (25:9). During the second set they only let 11 points squeeze past them. Their consistent  communication was key to the (25:11) win. After winning the first two sets, the Lady Tigers laid back a little bit, and loosened up. They still played hard and took care of business, winning the third set (25:16).Â
Making noise on the scoreboard for this game was
Julia Corbett who counted 8 kills and 10 digs. Hannah Edwards stepped up for the team, recording 8 digs.
The Lady Tigers were undefeated as they ended the weekend 6-0. This adds to their stats of 18-8. Needless to say it was a great weekend to be an FIT Tiger at Rockland Community College. They really showed them how it is done.
