Soccer Taking Away Positives From Weekend Road Trip

(Columbia & Baltimore, Maryland) Tough matches for the FIT women's soccer team as they faced Howard Community College and CCBC Essex on their road trip to Maryland this weekend. The Tigers faced Howard on Saturday in Columbia, MD on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year. Howard found the back of the net twice and Tiger's suffered their second loss with a final score of 2-0. Sunday's game in Baltimore against CCBC Essex ended 1-1 at the end of regulation, with Essex finding the goal in overtime to end the game 2-1.

"It's frustrating to lose our first three matches. The team understands now what needs to improved and these pre-season games have helped the players work out their mistakes in time for regular season matches" – Assistant Coach Brianna Marquit

Although no goals were scored by the offense, the goalkeeping on Saturday by first year player Hanna Duncan was outstanding.  She saved multiple shots and breakaways that keep the tigers in the game.  Sunday's match the FIT Women found the net on a free kick taken by freshman Lauren Fremgen during the second half.  The defense, lead by senior Devin Theiss, had held their ground all weekend but in the end both opponents found a way through.

"Our only concern right now is to improve. We need to take these losses, analyze them thoroughly, rectify, and move forward." – Coach Bevivino

Eager to end their losing streak, the Tigers will back at home this Sunday as they host Kingsborough Community College.
