(Manhattan, NY) A partially inundated pitch and colder than usual temperatures was not able to stop this game from starting today. The Tigers braved a harsh and continuous rain when they faced Borough of Manhattan Community College at the nearby Pier 40 field. Through it all, both teams came out ready to play and did so with vigor.
Tiger's midfielder
Stephanie Dootz found the back of the net early in the game, with a one-time header off a cross from defender
Rosie Witherell. FIT continued to press forward and after physical and hard fought first half, the Tigers were ahead 5-0. Notable performances of the match include midfielder
Jennie Lopez as she found her goal of the season with a wicked shot from outside the 18-yard box, and midfielder
Nikki-Taylor Massaro with two solid goals, only a few minutes apart, at the close of the first half. Manhattan Community College exhibited much grit in the second half as they battled and tussled for every ball with full force, despite a drenched pitch.
