(Kingsborough, Brooklyn) The FIT Women's soccer team traveled to their home field in Kingsborough, Brookyln to match Borough of Manhattan Community College for the second time this season. With lots of confidence the Tigers took the field ready to play. Six minutes in BMCC slipped and had a handball in the box, allowing captain
Carrie Godas to step up and take a penalty for the Tigers. She swiftly shot the ball into the corner of the net, and gave the Tigers the lead for the game. With lots of possession and great plays the Tigers held control of the game
Stephanie Dootz took command of the midfield and dribbled the ball through BMCC's players taking a strong shot and giving the Tigers yet another goal. Soon after
Rosie Witherell stepped up to take a free kick, and lofted the ball to the back net. BMCC managed to get a break through the Tiger's defense and get a goal before the first half ended. The half ended at 3-1.
Starting the second half with the same intensity the Tigers grew frustrated with miss shots and lots of fouls. However
Shelby Fender found the ball past the back line of BMCC and carried the ball all the way past the keeper and into the net for FIT's fourth goal. Soon after
Tori Macrina found the ball at her feet and took a solid shot at goal right into the back of the net. The tigers finished the game 5-1.
"BMCC gave us a good game and although the girls got frustrated during the game, they still managed to pull out a win. We have lots to work on for next weekend, so we'll keep working hard during the week." Says Head Coach
David Bevivino.
The Tigers face Suffolk Community College and Kingsborough Community College next weekend and they hope to pull out a win against both. Both games will be at Kingsborough and at 1 pm.
