Dinu Dan

Dinu Dan was selected to be the next FIT Tigers Head Women’s Volleyball Coach entering the 2021 season.  Coach Dan will lead the team in aspects of operations and work towards maintaining a highly competitive volleyball program.

Coach Dan came to FIT following a season at Brooklyn College, where he served as head coach of the men’s volleyball team for the 2019 campaign.

Prior to Brooklyn College, Coach Dinu Dan served as Head Men’s & Women’s Volleyball Coach for the 2016 & 2017 seasons at Yeshiva University. Coach Dan’s experience also includes Head Women’s Volleyball Coach for more than 9 seasons at Centenary University located in Hackettstown, NJ (NCAA DIII) and head coaching experience at Long Island University in Brooklyn (NCAA Division I). 

Additionally under his leadership as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Pace University (NCAA Division II), the team qualified for the two National Championship tournaments, 1998-2000. As a result of his efforts and the team’s success, Coach Dinu Dan was named Coach of the Year, Northeast-10 Conference (1998-2000), Region Coach of the Year, AVCA Division II Northeast-10 Conference (1998 and 2000) and during the 2016 Pace Athletics Hall of Fame Award Ceremony, Coach Dan was inducted as: 2000 Team Distinction Head Coach Award.

Coach Dan also has had a very successful professional career on the volleyball court, playing in Europe for more than 10 seasons. 

Coach Dan’s philosophy is to achieve success not only on the volleyball court, but also to take pride in developing players off the court.  Coach Dan is very proud of many of his former student-athletes who have achieved leadership roles and become  successful in their careers.  In addition to coaching volleyball for FIT, Coach Dan works in the meditation / mindfulness field, implementing techniques and conducting sessions for his clients.

Coach Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration (Therapeutic Recreation) from Kean University in 1996 and Master of Arts in Leadership and Public Administration from Centenary University 2014. He lives in Brooklyn NYC.
