(New York, NY)  The hiring of FIT's new Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Deborah Hong, has just been announced by the athletic director, Keith Heron.  Coach Hong brings a wealth of experience to FIT both as a coach and as a highly successful player on the NCAA Division I level.

Most recently, Coach Hong served as the assistant men’s & women’s volleyball coach at Pratt Institute.  Coach Hong helped lead women’s team at an overall record of 12-8, and an appearance in the conference championship game where they fell just short. On the men’s side, Coach Hong helped lead the team to an impressive 11-4 overall record, helping the team end on a high note, with a 5-game win streak.  Coach Hong has coached several national volleyball club teams, including the Phoenix VB Club, Do It Garden state VB Club, & the Lady Bucs VB Club, Velocity all of which are based out of her home state, New Jersey.
 
As a college player, Coach Hong player Libero for NCAA Division I Farleigh Dickinson University where she ranks 5th all-time in single season digs and 6th all-time in career digs.  She was able to accomplish these feats while also finding time to volunteer as a member of the FDU SAAC Committee.  Coach Hong was awarded the  2015 Women’s Volleyball Knight Award for being the most outstanding student-athlete on her team and in the same year, Coach Hong was names Woman of the Year by the New Jersey Association for Intercollegiate Athletics.
 
 
Educationally, Coach Hong earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from FDU, and is currently pursuing a certificate in Christian counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary located in Hatfield, PA.
