WHEN DOES THE COMPANY REHEARSE?
The company rehearses each Monday evening approximately 6:30pm-9pm and Sunday afternoon approximately 12pm-4pm in the Dance Studio (Room BX28). Just before upcoming shows we may extend our Sunday rehearsal hours and may add 2 or 3 additional weekday evenings for on stage and tech rehearsals on the week leading up to each show.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AUDITIONS?
Auditions are held at the beginning of each academic year early in the fall semester. You will learn a combo and have the opportunity to do some improvisation. Feel free to bring any shoes with you to show off your special skills if you’d like (Tap, Point, etc.) There is no need to wear any specific clothing for the audition other than typical dance / athletic attire. Completion of student-athlete forms #1-5 (which includes a physical exam) is required prior to auditioning or rehearsing for the first time. All students must bring a dance resume and headshot to the audition.
DO STUDENTS CHOREOGRAPH FOR THE COMPANY?
Yes, in addition to bringing in professional guest artists from around NYC, students are able to choreograph and perform their own work.
WHAT KIND OF DANCE DOES THE COMPANY PERFORM?
The company brings in guest artists to teach classes of various genres. We perform various genres as well. Some include: Hip hop, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater and more.
