May 6th
The Tigers turned in a very strong performance at the St. John's University Tom Farrell Classic this past Saturday, May 4th, during their last meet of the regular season.
All three women's distance runners posted season and personal bests in the women's 1500m. Kimiko Quayle posted a time of 4:48.12, good enough for a third place overall finish. Kimiko was followed by Kaylee Lupowitz who finished in 5:23.02 and Maria Tovar who finished at the 5:40.30 mark.
On the men's side, Matthew Pollackov ran the 1500m in a time of 4:49.92, also a new seasonal and personal best for him.
But perhaps the most remarkable feat of the meet came in the last event of the day, the women's 4x400m relay. Kaylee Lupowitz, Maria Tovar, Esther Babafemi, and Kimiko Quayle teamed up to run their very first 4x4 relay of the season, managing to finish with a time of 4:39.73, good enough to qualify for the national championships in that event!
With an impressive regular season now in the books, the team is more than ready for the NJCAA DIII National Championships to take place this Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. Join us in cheerin on the FIT Tiger Track & Field at nationals this weekend!
