FIT Cross Country competed in the first-ever Medgar Evers Legacy Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The team boasted incredible performances on both the men's and women's sides.
The women's team, led by Kimiko Quayle brought home the second-place trophy for the Junior College Division. Kimiko took first place overall in the women's 6k race, finishing over a minute before all other runners, with a time of 26:52.10! Following Quayle, Kaylee Lupowitz finished with a time of 29:39.71 securing a third-place finish among junior college runners. Elizabeth Song and Amayah Meas took 9th and 10th place, followed by Esther Babafemi and Jennifer Rubiano with 14th and 15th place.
On the men's side, FIT's sole men's runner Matthew Pollackov finished in fifth place for junior colleges, with a time of 35:37.61 in the 8k race. This time was a course personal best for Pollackov.
Clearly, the team's hard work throughout the season has paid off. The Tigers are now poised and ready for their next race, the NJCAA DIII National Championship in Huntsville, Alabama on November 11th! Join us in cheering them on down the home stretch! GO TIGERS!!
