The FIT Tigers dropped the season opener against a tough Union County College team. The Tigers, including seven new additions to the roster, played well for their first ever match together, and are working hard everyday to build more team chemistry in practice. Freshman GK Emilia Burbano De Lara made several impressive saves in the loss, but couldn't stop the barrage of shots fired at the net. Union entered the match very prepared mentally and physically, dominating possession over an FIT team still less than two weeks into preseason workouts. Despite the result, the Tigers showed moments of controlling the game, especially in the last 15 min of each half which gives the coaching staff hope for a successful season.
The Tigers look forward to their next match next Saturday, 9/8 when they face Nassau Community College at Kingsborough CC for a 12 noon kick off.
