On October 20th, the Tigers traveled to Mitchel Field to take on Nassau CC Lions. For the second year in a row the Tigers battled Nassau for the final game of playoffs. From the start of the game every single player came out hungry for a goal. Not long into the first half, senior captain
Chloe Cornille scored a beautiful goal off of a corner kick from
Katherine Lillis. While this was very exciting, the Tigers switched off for just a minute and Nassau answered right back. Through an unfortunate few fouls, Nassau received multiple penalty kicks. The first one found the back of the net, but the second one was saved by the Tigers' goalkeeper
Eliza Clarke Burton. Her amazing safe helped to switch the Tigers back on. The second goal to come for the Tigers was scored by other senior captain
Isabel Rodela. Ultimately, the Tigers fell to Nassau 5-2. While this was not the outcome the Tigers wanted, the coaching staff couldn't have been anymore proud of them. There wasn't a single player that didn't leave their all on the field.
After the game, during the awards ceremony,
Gabrielle L'Insalata was granted player of the year. Also, Coach Bazi was granted coach of the year. The season as a whole was yet another great one, as it was the second year in a row Coach Bazi was able to carry her team to the finals. Officially the Tigers finished 7-3, second in the region. While it'll be difficult to say goodbye to our 8 seniors, Chloe, Isabel, Nabi, Rebeka, Virginia, Katherine, Emilia, and Eliza, they all had such a successful season. We can't wait to see what's in store for next season!
