(Manhattan, NY) The FIT Tigers took on 2 games at Borough of Manhattan Community College last Thursday night. The Tigers were fresh and ready to add to their winning streak after their killer weekend tournament at BMCC this past weekend.
The first match of the night was against Passaic Community College. The Panthers put up a good fight, but FIT had their claws out tonight and weren't letting anything touch the hardwood. They only let 9 points slide past them, winning the first set (25,9).Â
There wasn't much to be tried in the second set as the Tigers handily took the set (25,15). Going into the third set the Tigers channeled their energy levels together and sealed the deal at (25,13). Nice teamwork, Tigers!
Across the board the Tigers stayed consistent which was the key to taking down Passaic Community College. They know that to continue to dominate teams, they must stay consistent and level headed.Â
All-Stars to note:Â
Jenna Dickey lead the team with 11 kills.
Taj Cutting And
Darina Relyea followed with 5 and 7 kills, respectively.
For the second match of the night, the Tigers faced Borough of Manhattan Community College on their home turf. Although the Blue Panthers came out thinking they were going to declaw these Tigers, they were wrong. FIT quickly shut them down in 3 sets winning (25,08), (25,12) and (25,14). To help the Tigers take the lead,
Jenna Dickey claimed 12 kills,
Cassandra Burdick posted 25 assists, and Hannah Edwards recorded 22 digs.
The Tigers are just getting warmed up for their full schedule of games at the Rhode Island tournament this weekend. It was great to see all members of the team get to see hardwood time, and be able to contribute to two great wins. Look forward to a similar outcome this weekend as the Tigers go on the road to the Rhode Island Tournament. You won't want to miss the wins The Tigers add to this awesome streak!Â
