(Suffolk, NY) The FIT Tigers headed to Long Island, to play Suffolk Community College for their first playoff game. The first half the girls were back and forth in possession. Both teams had equal opportunities and chances. It was an intense game from the beginning, as both teams wanted to continue on into play offs. Neither team was ready to end their seasons at the end of the 90 minutes. The first half ended as it started, 0-0. When the second half came around, both teams were anxious to score and get the lead for their team. With lots of scrambling, and blocked shots in front of our net, our defense and keeper couldn't manage to stop a quick shot that rolled quickly passed, and into the back of the net. Giving Suffolk their first goal against the Tigers. The games intensity only heightened from the goal and the girls really put their hearts into those last twenty minutes. However it wasn't enough, with 4 seconds left Suffolk managed to find the goal once again. Ending the game with a 0-2 score. The Tigers played especially hard tonight, and left their hearts out on the field.
It was a rough way to end the season, but I've never seen the girls play harder. I'm proud of how they played today and I couldn't ask for anything more from them. The season may be over but there have been many accomplishments along the way and some great moments. It was my privilege to be able to coach the girls and get to know each and everyone of them. It was my privilege to watch them grow as players and as a team.
"It's always a rough and sad way to end the season, but we'll come back stronger next year. The girls had a great run, and I'm going to miss them all now that season is over" said head coach
David Bevivino.
"They gave it their all and that's all we want out of them. You win some you loose some, but it was a great season overall" added assistant coach
Hugo Florez The tigers ended their season with a 4-9 record Leaving them in third place inside the conference. The Tigers had a great season, and hope to come back next year ready to take first place!
