Congratulations to Andrea Distefano for being named the Fall SUNY Scholar Athlete Women's Cross Country Award winner and to Devin Rotunno for being named the Fall SUNY Scholar Athlete Women's Tennis Award winner during SUNY's inaugural year of naming SUNY-Wide Scholar Athletes!S

Sophomore Andrea Distefano led the Cross Country Team in each race of the 2022 season culminating with a 37th place finish at nationals.  Andrea led by example and set the pace for her teammates to follow each race.  Academically, Andrea maintained a 3.65 GPA and was named to the All-Region Academic team this season and will be nominated for NJCAA Academic All-American at the end of the academic year. 

Sophomore Devin Rotunno helped lead the Women's Tennis Team earn National Championship Co-Runner Up honors in 2022 where individually, she earned second team All-American status for going all the way to the National Championship match in 4th singles.  Academically,  Rotunno holds a 3.56 GPA, was recognized on the 2022 All-Region Academic team and will be nominated for NJCAA Academic All-American later this year.

Congrats to these athletes for being selected as the top SUNY Scholar-Athlete in their sports during the 2022 season!

About SUNY Scholar Athlete Awards:

The SUNY Scholar Athlete Awards recognizes outstanding academic and athletic success in 29 different sports.  The NJCAA Category features the 29 two-year community colleges spread out across the state of New York.  Over 14,000 student-athletes compete at SUNY institutions representing 53 different colleges and universities at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III/USCAA and NJCAA levels and are eligible for the awards which are presented three times a year to coincide with the specific sports contested in the fall, winter and spring seasons.
